«I grew up in the shadow of the Renaissance arcades, with the precise sensation of the pietra serena stone and the white plaster, passed into memory through my fingers. I am accustomed to the balanced, medieval space of the squares and of the streets arranged in cross-form, and to the geometric forms of the farmhouses, scattered across open horizons like an amphitheater, arranged in an orderly way amongst the fields, the woods, the Balze cliffs and the Appennines».
